1. Simple Present (단순 현재 시제)
-과거에서부터 현재 그리고 앞으로 계속 지속되는 반복적인 행동이나 습관을 이야기할 때 사용한다.
(예: 일상, 취미, 취향, 기호, 습관 등) 빈도부사와 함께 자주 쓰인다.
(빈도부사: always, usually, often, sometimes, hardly ever, rarely, never)
빈도부사의 위치는 be동사 뒤, 일반동사 앞에 온다.
e.g. I always eat breakfast.
She never smokes.
Does he usually go shopping on the weekends?
-불변의 진리를 이야기 할 때 사용한다.
e.g. The sun rises in the east.
The earth moves around the sun.
-Timetable에 나와있는 스케줄을 이야기 할 때 사용한다. (기차시간표, 버스시간표 등)
e.g. The train leaves at 10:00.
-과거에 일어났던 일을 생생하게 전달할 때 사용한다. (동화책)
e.g. She comes back home and watches TV….
2. Present Continuous (현재 진행 시제)
-지금 현재 일어나고 있는 동작이나 행동을 묘사할 때 사용한다.
(now, right now, at the moment와 자주 사용)
e.g. He is watching TV right now.
Where are you going now?
I’m not studying now. I’m resting.
-요즘에 벌어지고 있는 일을 이야기할 때 사용한다.
(These days, nowadays, this morning, today, this month, this year, this semester.. 등과 자주 사용)
e.g. I’m doing yoga these days to stay healthy.
Are you eating a lot of fast food recently?
She’s not swimming this month because the weather is too cold.
-일어날 확률이 높고, 가까운 미래를 이야기 할 때 사용한다.
e.g. She is leaving in five minutes.
Are you going to America tomorrow?
I’m not coming home tonight.
